According to reports, Chelsea manager Antonio Conte and defender David Luiz have held talks over the defender’s future at the club.

Brazilian defender Luiz, is said to have been involved in a spat with Conte following their 3-0 defeat to Roma in the Champions League. He was subsequently dropped from the team that faced Manchester United in their next game and has since suffered a knee injury that has seen him miss action up to this point.

In his absence, understudy, Andreas Christensen has stepped up and performed admirably, drawing widespread praise from fans and pundits. The youngster’s performance levels has brought about rumours that Luiz even when he is fully fit will find it difficult to break into the starting XI.

It is believed that Conte in the said meeting informed the 30-year old defender that he wants the defender to return to the team as they seek to close down on leaders Manchester City. But Luiz on his part is believed to have told the manager of his willingness to seek a move away from Stamford Bridge if regular game time will not be available when he returns.

Luiz who is close to a returning to full fitness has been linked with a move away this January due to his current situation, with Manchester United, Real Madrid and most recently Bayern Munich all said to be interested.
