Reports of unrest for Manchester United’s attacking midfielder, Henrikh Mkhitaryan has brought about admirers from Italy in the shape of giants Inter Milan.
The Nerazzurri are reported to be very interested in the Armenian and are quite eager to carry out a swap deal involving Portuguese midfielder Joao Mario.
Joao Mario like Mkhitaryan, has fallen out of favour with his manager these season as he has been resigned to making substitute appearances, a situation he is not pleased with.
The Portuguese international was a target of United in the past before moving to Inter from Sporting Lisbon in 2016. PSG are also interested in the midfielder but it is believed boss Unai Umery wants him as a bit part player for his star-studded side which effectively rules them out for Mario.
Mario has been described as a player,
“blessed with exceptional work rate, mesmerizing ball control, lightening quick speed of thought and the right amount of aggression.”
He would definitely add another dimension to United’s midfield and help reduce their over-reliance on Paul Pogba.
It is quite clear that Joao Mario will be a great addition to the Man United setup but it is left to be seen if an agreement can be reached between both sides, also taking in account united’s long standing interest in Inter’s Ivan Perisic.
It is believed Inter were originally planning a swap deal with PSG involving Mario and Javier Pastore but the situation of Mkhitaryan at United has seen Inter coach Luciano Spaletti switch his attention to the 28-year old Armenian.
