Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has pleaded with fans of the club to be patient with struggling, under pressure midfield pair Tiemoue Bakayoko and Danny Drinkwater.
Both players arrived during the summer transfer window from Monaco and Leicester City respectively and have both struggled to impress so far this season.
Bakayoko arrived to huge fanfare after brilliant displays for Monaco and impressed initially but as seen his form drop dramatically leading to fans of the club taking aim at his poor performances.
Drinkwater on the other hand, spent the start of the season sidelined with injury and has just started to reach peak physical condition and has impressed in a few games so far this season.
Manager, Conte has however backed his two new players. Speaking in a press conference ahead of their game away to Huddersfield Town, he has pleaded with fans to be patient with their new acquisitions.
“I am very happy to work with my players, It is normal when you are starting to change, to create a base and a fundamental for Chelsea it is normal having patience and working with new players. They need a bit of time to adapt to our idea of football and this league, this is not simple. This season we changed. For many reasons a couple of players, Drinkwater and Bakayoko, they started to work with us very late. The most important thing is to have the will to work every day.”
Both players will be looking to prove themselves as the season progresses.
