The draw for the round of 16 of the 2017/2018 Champions league was held on Monday in Nyon, Switzerland. The draw has put together some very mouth-watering fixtures.
Chelsea have been drawn against Barcelona which comes as little surprise given that the Catalan club was 1 of only 3 possible ties for the Blues. Nonetheless, it puts on a show, two of Europe’s giants, who have a history of great European nights of Champions league football between them. By the time they meet in February it would be almost 6 years since Chelsea knocked out Barcelona in the semi-finals of the 2011/2012 UCL on their way to winning the title.
Both teams would have definitely loved to save such a tough matchup for the latter stages of the competition but for football lovers around the world, it presents a fixture to look forward to.
Elsewhere, both Manchester clubs were served relatively straightforward ties, which sees Manchester United face Sevilla and Manchester City up against Basel.
Liverpool were drawn against FC Porto and fellow English Premier League side face a tough tie against last season’s finalists and Italian Champions Juventus.
Another standout tie of the draw see defending Champions, Real Madrid square off against French side PSG. The tie will have some of the best players in the World facing off as two of the tournament favourites go head to head.
