Inter Milan boss Erick Thohir has revealed that the club are looking at the possibility of signing Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil.
The German playmaker has been in the news since the end of last season due to his refusal to pen a new deal at the Emirates as his transfer saga dragged on all through the last summer window. Although, the 28-year-old did not get the luxury of having a couple of clubs on his trail like his fellow Arsenal contract rebel, Alexis Sanchez who had a number of suitors willing to snatch him up but missed out on a deadline move due to Arsenal’s reluctance to allow the Chilean leave without signing a replacement.
Ozil who arrived at the Emirates in 2013, has gone to become one of their best players with important stats to back up but has been criticised by a large section of the fanbase and pundits due to his inability to carry the team on his shoulders especially during tough encounters.
Reports have it that the Gunners are ready to cash out on the midfielder and are looking at the chances of offering Ozil plus cash to buy Inter Milan midfielder Joao Mario but it is understood that the Italian giants are unwilling to allow one of their star performers leave next winter window.
Inter’s minority owner, Erick Thohir has now confirmed suggestions that they are interested in signing Mesut Ozil but hinted they might have to wait till next summer window before making another transfer move, citing instances of Podolski and Shaqiri cases as reasons why they might not sign players next January.
