Will Smith was banned from Oscar for the coming ten years due to his unacceptable behavior on stage with Chris Rock.
According to a report received by CNN, Will Smith will not be part of the Academy Awards for the next ten years as he slapped the comedian Chris Rock on stage.
As Smith slapped the comedian Chris Rock on stage, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences announced in a statement that he was banned due to his rude behavior on stage towards the Rock.
However, on Friday, Academy President David Rubin and CEO Dawn Hudson said that Mr.Smith would not be allowed in any Academy event for ten years, both physically and virtually.
In the last week, Smith resigned from the Academy, and it was scheduled that the board meeting would be held on 18 April, but it was held on 8 April on Friday.
So in response, Smith issued a quick response to his ban and said in a statement to CNN that he honorably accepts the board's decision.
Moreover, the letter of the Academy added that. "this Oscars event was expected to be a celebration of the many individuals in our community, who have contributed a lot to this field, but this was shattered by the unacceptable and destructive behavior of Smith."
It was mentioned in another statement the board governors wanted the issue to be "handled in a timely fashion."
A source with knowledge told CNN that Smith was banned from the Academy Awards, but it does not mean that he will be nominated in the future for the Academy Awards.
In addition, another source told CNN that he can still be nominated for Oscars as the rules do not apply to the eligibility for Oscars.
