The American Idol season 19 runner-up Willie Spence has died in a car accident.

Last year, Spence finished as runner-up to Chayce Beckham in the show's 19th season.

Singer Katharine McPhee recently confirmed the news of Spence's death on her Instagram.

She wrote, "I received very tragic news tonight," "Sweet @williespenceofficial passed away in a car accident. Only 23 years old."

However, his last video before the car crash was of him singing, "You are my hiding Place."

The crash report says that an accident occurred around 4 p.m, when Spence's Jeep Cherokee collided with the back of the tractor-trailer.

However, Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of this incident and why the Spence car left the pavement.

Spence gave Rihanna's "Diamonds" an unforgettable performance during his Idol audition two years ago.

His performances were so incredible that he earned himself a spot in the finals.
