Apple works on a documentary about Sidney Poitier

Apple is nowadays working on a documentary about the late Sidney Poitier,

and Oprah Winfrey has reportedly enrolled the project, which has been in production for over a year.

The first black Oscar winner for Best Actor, Sidney Poitier, departs on Friday at 94.

Subsequently to his death, it became public that work proceeds on a documentary about the prominent actor.

Harpo Productions and Network Entertainment are working on the film under the Apple Original Films umbrella, executive produced by Winfrey, Variety Records.

Besides, it will be directed by Reggie Hudlin of House Party and The Black Godfather and is a regular executive producer of the NAACP Image Awards.

The Poitiers family took part in the project throughout its production. In a statement following the announcement of Poitiers' death. 

The family said that he was "not only a brilliant actor, activist and a man of incredible grace and fortitude,

he was also a devoted and loving husband, a supportive and adoring father and a man who always put family first."

Originally from Miami, Poitiers was known as a trailblazer in Hollywood, earning his first Oscar nomination for Defiant in 1958 and then winning for Lilies of the Field.

Other films he has starred in include Blue Spot, Night Heat, Guess Who's Coming to Dinner, and Jungle on the Board.

Details of the documentary's release are currently unknown, but it is expected to be available for viewing on Apple TV + after its release.

Thus, it will be a grand gesture to the late Sidney Poitier and a relief to the audience and his lovers.
