Premier League giants Manchester United have identified defensive alternatives to their top transfer target Kalidou Koulibaly.
This is according to the publication from The Independent which claimed that the Red Devils are exploring the option of alternatives if they are unable to sign their major transfer target.
Senegalese international Koulibaly is the number one transfer target for Manchester United this summer as they start a major rebuilding job in preparation for next season.
Kalidou Koulibaly is widely regarded as one of the best defenders on the world football stage and the Red Devils will have to spend a world-record fee to sign him.
Liverpool defender Virgil Van Dijk is the most expensive defender after the Reds paid £75m for the Dutchman.
Manchester United will have to pay more than £75m for the transfer of Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli who are reluctant to let him leave the club.
If the Red Devils don’t sign Koulibaly, they will turn their attention to the alternatives according to the aforementioned publication.
Leicester City defender Harry Maguire, Tottenham Hotspur centre back Toby Alderweireld and Inter Milan star Milan Skriniar have all been identified as alternatives in the event that the Red Devils are not able to convince Napoli to sell the aforementioned Koulibaly.
