Former Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has thrown his weight behind both Ajax Amsterdam and Tottenham Hotspur for the Champions League title.
In an interview with Russia Today, Mourinho said that he was not surprised that both teams reached the last four of the Champions League before adding that all the four semifinalists have the same percentage of winning the competition (25%).
Dutch Eredivisie giants Ajax Amsterdam and North London giants Tottenham Hotspur have been the surprise teams of this year’s competition.
A youthful Ajax team has been the giant-killers in the Champions League this term after they masterminded the exit of both Real Madrid and Juventus.
Ajax saw off Real Madrid in the last 16 via a 5-3 aggregate victory over the Spanish giants who won the first leg in Amsterdam 2-1 before the Dutch Eredivisie giants made a remarkable turnaround in the second leg.
Ajax thrashed Real Madrid 4-1 to book their spot in the quarterfinals which ended in a 3-2 aggregate loss for the Dutch team.
Up next is a semifinal tie with North London club Tottenham Hotspur who also saw off some big opponents enroute the last four.
Spurs saw off German Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund in the last 16 before seeing off Pep Guardiola and the Manchester City team.
