Sevilla midfielder Ever Banega has expressed his delight at the return of Monchi to the club earlier this month after a two-year spell in Italy.
Monchi recently returned to the Spanish La Liga club to take up his sporting director role.
He turned down the overtures of North London giants Arsenal to return to Sevilla upon his exit from Italian Serie A giants AS Roma.
In an interview with the official website of Sevilla, Argentine international Banega was delighted with the return of Monchi to the club.
Ever Banega could have left Sevilla before the return of Monchi with Arsenal interested in his signature during the January transfer window but he decided to stay in Spain especially after the Gunners could only offer a loan move.
Ex-Sevilla goalkeeper Monchi finished his playing career at the Andalusian outfit in 1999 before taking up the sporting director role a year later.
During a 17-year period with Monchi, Sevilla enjoyed the best spell in their history with five UEFA Cup/Europa League titles.
He left the club for AS Roma in 2017 citing the need for a new challenge only for him to return to the Spanish La Liga club after things didn’t turn out the way he wanted in Italy.
