Arsenal can still fund transfers for players despite missing out on Champions League football in the last two years according to managing director Vinai Venkatesham.
He said this in his latest interview while addressing fears of the Gunners’ financial state despite the fact that the team is crying out for reinforcements ahead of the January transfer window.
Venkatesham revealed that Arsenal have the spending power to make transfers before sounding a note of warning.
According to him, Arsenal have to get to where it belongs (competing in the Champions League) as soon as possible to avoid a financial strain on the business model the club has decided to adopt.
Arsenal have been linked with several players in the upcoming transfer window scheduled to start as from the 1st of January.
The Gunners’ priority in the transfer market is said to be finding a replacement for injured forward Danny Welbeck though a midfielder could also be on the cards due to the imminent exit of Aaron Ramsey at the end of the season.
England international player Welbeck is almost certain to miss the rest of this season after undergoing two operations on the serious ankle injury he sustained in the last Europa League clash with Sporting Lisbon.
