Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has reportedly emerged as a transfer target for Champions League holders Real Madrid ahead of the upcoming transfer window in January.
According to the report from popular Italian news portal calciomercato via ESPN, the France World Cup winner will become a prime target for the Los Merengues once former Chelsea boss Antonio Conte becomes their new manager.
The European champions are looking for a new manager on a permanent basis following the dismissal of Julen Lopetegui and Conte is said to be in the running for one of the most difficult jobs in world football.
Former FC Porto boss Lopetegui was sacked on Monday evening after his team suffered a demoralising 5-1 loss at the hands of arch rivals Barcelona in their El Clasico meeting in the Spanish La Liga on Sunday.
The defeat left the Spanish capital club in midtable on the league log with the Los Merengues now seven points adrift of leaders Barcelona in the race for the La Liga title.
Antonio Conte has been out of work since he lost his job as the Chelsea manager in the summer despite winning the 2018 FA Cup title courtesy a 1-0 win over rivals Manchester United.
