The Double-edged sword of success. The latest NPD report shows that both Madden NFL 22 and Switch topped the charts for best sellers in America in August. Unfortunately, the success of the Madden NFL 22 and Switch was not enough to top Sony’s PlayStation 5, which led to dollar sales.
Nevertheless, it was a record August for games, with consumer spending reaching 4.4 billion dollars last month – an increase over last year by 7%.
Hardware sales excited 45% compared to last year, at $329 million. This is the highest total in a single month since 2008 when they reached 395 Million dollars. In March, the Nintendo Switch took the top spot for hardware sales with over one million units sold, followed by Sony’s PlayStation 5.
Madden NFL 22 became the fourth best-selling game of this year’s so far with its release. It arrived at No1, having been available on August 17th, and quickly surpassed other games in sales numbers for that period.
The second-largest game of August, thanks to a Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut version on console platforms. Humankind took fourth place in PC sales and came out as one of its best sellers.
Mobile game sales topped $2 billion. The top-earning mobile games in America include Candy Crush Saga, Garena Free Fire Roblox Coin Master Pokemon GO Ginshin Impact Homescapes Clash Royale PUBG Mobile.
The accessories sales reported $164 million spent this past year which is 12% more than last year’s amount when they crossed 1.6 billion with these purchases.
