Tesla Inc. has moved one step closer to make its debut for importing and making its vehicles in the South Asian country. Moreover, the Indian administration approved and gave clearance to only four EVs models initially.

According to the website of the ministry of roads and transport, the approved four Tesla models of electric vehicles are being roadworthy in India.

Furthermore, the tests conducted by various authorities resulted in approval as these eco-friendly automobiles match the Indian market requirements in terms of safety, emission, and also roadworthiness.

The site of the nation’s ministry of road transport and highways also announced that it will revolutionize the electric vehicle industry within the country. Because there’s no other credible and international brand that plans to set up its factory within the country.

Previously, the Tesla fan club tweeted about this development, including the manufacturing of Model 3 and Model Y variants.

To recall, in the last year, Tesla set up its unit in India under the name of Tesla India Motors and Energy Pvt. Ltd. Since then, the Elon Musk car-making giant is pressurizing the Indian government to give a cut on imports of electric vehicles and its related parts.

All automobiles manufacturers, including Indians or foreigners, need a local certificate before its launch in the country. For example, the world’s top-notch vehicle makers, such as Mercedes Benz and Audi, have already started importing their EVs as fully built units in India.

Despite the import duty from India levies, the global automakers are willing to make and import their products to the South Asian country. The reason for the attraction from world-class automobiles companies despite the highest import custom duty is the gigantic market.

India has the world’s second-largest population after China; therefore, many conglomerates are always wanting investment chances.

This means sometimes in the future, we’ll be seeing Tesla EV models on the road of India.
