EPL outfit, Arsenal seem to have lost out of the race for RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano and have turned their attention to his defensive partner Ibrahima Konate.

Dayot Upamecano has been on Arsenal’s radar for the past months but with the competition from Man United, Liverpool and other clubs, they seem to have lost out and will have to face other options.

Pundits have largely agreed that the Gunners team now boast of a better defence from what was obtainable some years back after the signing of Gabriel Magalhaes from French Ligue 1 outfit Lille and Ghanaian International defensive midfielder Thomas Partey from Atletico Madrid but that has not stopped the North London outfit from being linked with a defender.

However, Arsenal are reported to be monitoring the progress of RB Leipzig defender Ibrahima Konate who has been an important figure under Julian Nagelsmann this term despite missing a large part of last season to injury.

The 21-year-old has had a perfect partnership with Dayot Upamecano so far this season and has been rated the same level as the Man United and Liverpool target

Bild reports that Arsenal are not the North London outfit are not alone in the chase of Ibrahima Konate as several other Premier League clubs are showing interest in his services ahead of the January winter window.

However, RB Leipzig have placed a release clause of £55 million on Ibrahima Konate and are not willing yo negotiate the fee with any of the interested clubs.

However, Dayot Upamecano is one of the youngest prospects in Europe as a host of clubs are lined up for his services and there are chances that he will quit his German Bundesliga outfit in the January winter transfer window or in the summer transfer window despite recently signing a long term contract with the club.
