Netherlands boss Frank De Boer has reacted to Van de Beek’s lack of playing time at Man United after making a big-money move from Ajax over the summer.
The 23-year-old met Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes at Old Trafford and there were concerns before his arrival that manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will not be able to play the three midfielders at once in a single game.
He has had only four starts across all competitions – none of which have been in the Premier League, where he has seen just 75 minutes of action.
Frank De Boer in his reaction said he is not concerned about the fate of his countryman at Man United but urged him to be patient enough to get his own opportunity.
The Netherlands manager said all he has to do is to help the 23-year-old regain his confidence by giving him adequate playing time during national assignments.

“I can’t hug him right now of course! I try to give him as much confidence as possible, which I showed by starting him against Italy.
“I think he did well in the games he played, I saw him a few times at United. He’s doing well, but they have a great midfield with [Bruno] Fernandes, [Paul] Pogba, Fred, [Scott] McTominay and [Nemanja] Matic.” He said
Frank De Boer admits it will be a frustrating time for Donny van de Beek because he wants to play frequently but expressed confidence that he will get his playing time at the right time.
With Paul Pogba lacking playing time with bench roles, it is the best time for Van de Beek to nail his position but he must begin by impressing during the international break with the Netherlands national team.
Should Paul Pogba quit Man United as speculated, Donny Van de Beek will have the space to play regularly in the team.
