Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has given his reasons as to why Man United must part ways with France international midfielder Paul Pogba as soon as possible.

The former Juventus has been heavily criticized by pundits and former players for struggling for consistent first-team minutes in recent months, owing to his poor form. He has battled injuries as well to add to the fact that he tested positive for Covid-19.

The 27-year-old has sat on the bench for the last couple of games and the former Liverpool defender says he is not a great player as he cannot be compared with the past midfielders he has played against.

Jamie Carragher compares Paul Pogba to the likes of Steven Gerrard, Yaya Toure, or Frank Lampard and he thinks the World Cup winner is no match as he urged the Red Devils to consider selling him.

“Would I pick him in the Manchester United team? No, I wouldn’t. He’s a huge name, he’s come for a huge transfer fee, but I don’t think he’s a great player,” Carragher told talkSPORT.

“People say he’s won the World Cup and I get that. But when he came in I thought he might have the impact like Lampard at Chelsea, Gerrard at Liverpool, Yaya Toure at Man City – those players drove their team to titles, European Cups.

“It just hasn’t happened for him at Manchester United. For me, I’d be looking to move him on.

Meanwhile, France national team boss Didier Deschamps confirmed the situation with Paul Pogba and made it clear that the midfielder is not a happy man with the present situation at Old Trafford.

Paul Pogba will not be lacking in suitors if he decides to leave Man United but it is yet to be seen if the club will be ready to part ways with him anytime soon.
