Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer has hailed three Manchester United players for their part in the emphatic win over his former club during their Premier League clash at the St. James Park on Saturday night.

In the week five league clash, Manchester United scored three late goals as they came from a goal down to record an impressive 4-1 victory over the Magpies.

Alan Shearer is a Premier League legend and the record goalscorer in the history of the competition with 260 goals and he was full of praise for the Manchester United trio of Juan Manuel Mata, Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford for their display upfront.

He told BBC Match of the Day that the three attacking players were crucial as the Red Devils bounced back from the humiliating 6-1 home loss to Tottenham Hotspur in the last league game.

The victory over the Magpies is just the second league win of the season for Manchester United.

They had gone behind with a Luke Shaw own goal in the second minute before Harry Maguire put a difficult week for club and country behind him to score the equaliser in that first half.

Bruno Fernandes missed a second-half penalty before adding a late goal for his team. Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Marcus Rashford scored the final two goals to make it an emphatic victory for the Red Devils.
