Ole Gunnar Solskjaer Told Which Centre-back To Sign For Man United

Manchester United manager has been told to add RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano to his team as his current crop of defenders continue to struggle.

The fan poll on which centre back signing is right for Manchester United was carried out by the Manchester Evening News (MEN) and its result showed that 79.9% of the fans want the club to sign the French international central defender ahead of Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly with 12.4%.

Sevilla defender Jules Kounde has seen his stock rise rapidly after a stellar Europa League campaign with his Spanish La Liga club last season. The Frenchman was in third place with 4.8% of the votes.

In last position was ‘other’ with 2.8% and it had centre back suggestions like Juventus star Matthijs De Ligt, Villarreal centre back Pau Torres and reigning Champions League winner David Alaba of Bayern Munich.

The Manchester United trio of Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof and Eric Bailly have started in the centre back positions this season and the Red Devils have already shipped 11 goals in just three games.

Other centre back options like Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo have not featured as they have no future at the club under the present dispensation, while England international central defender Chris Smalling signed for AS Roma of Italy permanently on transfer deadline day.
