How Aubameyang influenced Thomas Partey’s Arsenal decision

Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang played a role in convincing Thomas Partey to join the club from Spanish La Liga outfit Atletico Madrid on the summer transfer deadline day.

The Ghanaian international joined the North London outfit after his £45 million release clause was activated on the transfer deadline day.

While expressing his desire to get started at the Emirates Stadium, Thomas Partey admitted that Arsenal’s will to keep Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang at the club for more years also helped to convince him.

According to the former Atletico Madrid midfielder, he said the decision by the Gabon international helped him to know that the club wants to achieve greater things with the big step.

It was earlier feared that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang would leave the Emirates Stadium as he was attracting interests from Barcelona and other top clubs but his contract at the club was extended and his weekly wage was increased.

Pundits have earlier stated that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang would not have signed a new deal with the Gunners if he was not aware of an ambition to bring in quality players to the club.

So far, Arsenal have been hailed for doing good summer transfer deals, especially with the capture of Thomas Partey, Willian, and Gabriel Magalhaes.
