Manchester United have confirmed when new signing Edinson Cavani will make his debut for the club via a statement released on Wednesday.

Uruguayan international striker Cavani has been forced to self-isolate after he flew in from France. This is part of COVID-19 guidelines put in place by the UK government.

Edinson Cavani will miss the upcoming Premier League clash between Newcastle United and Manchester United slated for St. James Park on Saturday night.

He has been told to self-isolate for one week meaning that he has to wait till next week to make his first appearance for Manchester United when they take on his former club Paris Saint Germain (PSG) in the Champions League.

His Premier League debut will have to wait till next weekend when Manchester United play hosts to Chelsea at Old Trafford in a week six duel.

Cavani has signed for Manchester United on a free transfer following the end of his PSG deal. He has signed a one-year deal worth £200,000 weekly with the option of another year if both parties decide to continue the association.

He was one of four players signed by Manchester United on the last day of the transfer window at the start of last week.
