Spanish giants Barcelona are said to be increasingly confident that they will be able to pull off a deal for Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum this summer.
The Catalans have been embroiled in several problems this summer including the transfer saga involving key player Lionel Messi but that has not stopped the club from pursuing their transfer targets.
According to the report via Goal, Barcelona believe they will be able to sign Dutch international Wijnaldum this summer with Liverpool uncertain about his future at Anfield.
He has just one year left on his contract and the Premier League champions are contemplating whether to cash in on him now or risk losing him for free amidst the bleak financial state facing football clubs due to the Coronavirus Pandemic.

Barcelona are well aware of Wijnaldum’s qualities especially after he scored twice against them in the 4-0 loss to Liverpool during the second leg of their Champions League semi-final clash two seasons ago.
Wijnaldum and Liverpool were able to overturn a 3-0 first leg loss for a 4-3 aggregate win and they went on to win the Champions League title.
The Dutch midfielder also helped the Reds win the Premier League title last month and he has a big fan in new Barcelona manager Ronald Koeman whom he worked with in the Dutch national team setup.
Reports claimed that around €18m will be enough to sign the player from Liverpool since he has just one year to run on his Reds contract.

He stressed that La Liga is lucky to have enjoyed the presence of the Argentina international for many years as he warned that he must be careful with whatever decision he makes in the future.
The La Liga president stated that Lionel Messi could be lucky to get a better financial offer when he leaves the Catalans but his reputation that has been built for about 20 years could be damaged.
However, it is confirmed that Lionel Messi will remain at Camp Nou for the season but what happens afterward is unknown as it is believed that he is still unhappy at the club.
