Manchester United have been backed to sign a top player to complement Harry Maguire at the heart of their defence by footballer turned pundit Garth Crooks.
Crooks is a pundit with BBC and he’s adamant that Three Lions of England player Harry Maguire needs a new quality centre back partner this summer despite the recent improvement shown by Manchester United defensively.
The Red Devils have not conceded a goal in each of their last three games in the Premier League.
The defensive showing has propelled Manchester United to a return of seven points from three league games thus taking the team to fifth spot on the table and three points off Chelsea who occupy fourth place on the Premier League log at the moment.
Harry Maguire became the world’s most expensive defender last summer after the Red Devils splashed the sum of £80m on him. He was signed from Leicester City after two seasons with the Foxes.

He has played with three centre backs since his time at Manchester United.
Phil Jones, Victor Lindelof and Eric Bailly have all taken turns to partner Harry Maguire who’s obviously the first choice central defender at Old Trafford.
Garth Crooks wants Manchester United and chief executive Ed Woodward to sign a new centre back to partner Harry Maguire and that the new player should be similar to Liverpool defender Virgil Van Dijk.
Dutch international Van Dijk has been the benchmark for defenders in recent times after his stunning adaptation to life at Liverpool upon his transfer to the club in January 2018.
He held the record for the most expensive defender in the history of mankind for many months before it was broken by the aforementioned Maguire.
Liverpool paid £75m to sign Virgil Van Dijk from Southampton around two years ago and the player has more than justified that price tag.
