Former Premier League player Paul Merson has advised Chelsea to beat top-four rivals Manchester United to the signing of Paris Saint Germain (PSG) striker Edinson Cavani.
According to him via the Daily Express, Cheslea need to sign the Uruguayan international before Premier League rivals Manchester United swoop in on him.
Paul Merson supported Chelsea as a youngster before playing got teams like Arsenal and Aston Villa during the early days of the Premier League era which began during the 1992/93 season.
The Daily Express revealed that Chelsea have already offered a loan fee of £5m for Cavani but PSG are not interested in it as they are holding out for a permanent transfer.

PSG are reluctant to let Cavani leave Parc des Princes before the end of this present transfer window next week Thursday.
The French giants want a transfer fee of £12.6m upwards for Edinson Cavani who favours a move to Atletico Madrid ahead of the Premier League duo of Manchester United and Chelsea.
Manchester United have made an enquiry to sign Edinson Cavani as they seek cover for Marcus Rashford who’s injured at the moment.
Atletico Madrid have had a €10m bid turned down for him by French giants PSG.
