Three-time European champions Manchester United have reportedly opened talks over the possibility of signing AC Milan striker Krzysztof Piatek.

According to The Athletic, Manchester United have contacted the Italians over the loan signing of the Polish international player.

The Red Devils have been informed that AC Milan are open to a loan deal for Piatek but it has come with the obligation to sign him for £30m at the end of the proposed short-term loan deal this summer.

Piatek has been pushed down the central striker pecking order at AC Milan this month following the arrival of former club striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The Polish striker has struggled for form this season and he has scored just five goals in 19 games for the Rossoneri in all competitions this term.

38-year-old AC Milan legend Zlatan Ibrahimovic has returned to the club to take his central striker role.

Ibrahimovic is back in Italy after his contract with Major League Soccer (MLS) club LA Galaxy ended last month.

Manchester United have turned to Piatek after the long-term injury to topscorer Marcus Rashford who has scored 19 goals plus five assists this season.

The Red Devils have been blunt in attack since the England international suffered a back injury.
