Six points separate the two teams before the game and champions Manchester City can’t afford to lose if they still harbor hopes of making it a hat-trick of league titles.
The Premier League champions have won the last two titles but they are already playing catchup this season with the Citizens six points adrift of Liverpool at the top of the table.
A defeat for Manchester City could spell doom for the Citizens who would be nine points adrift as a result.

Ahead of the game, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is expected to revert back to his tried and trusted starting XI after resting players for the Champions League game at home to Genk in midweek.
The likes of Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino were rested for the game which Liverpool won 2-1 before their introduction in the second half.
