The Premier League duo of West Ham United and Newcastle United are chasing Genk striker Mbwana Samatta who scored for his Belgian top flight outfit in the Champions League earlier this week.

The interest of West Ham United and Newcastle United was confirmed by experienced journalist Ian Dennis of the BBC.

Tanzanian international star Mbwana Samatta scored for Genk shortly before the halftime interval during the Champions League clash against hosts Liverpool at Anfield on Tuesday night.

His goal canceled out the opening goal from Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum after 13 minutes of action in the Group E game.

Liverpool and Genk played out a 1-1 draw at the end of the first half.

The reigning European champions went on to win the game in the second half courtesy the goal from former Arsenal midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

It was the third goal in two Champions League games for Liverpool against Genk.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain had scorer two goals in the first game between the two teams which ended in a 4-0 away win for the holders.

He has now scored four goals in his last four appearances for Liverpool in all competitions.

Mbwana Samatta is a wanted man in the Premier League and he has scored eight goals in 18 matches in all competitions for Genk this season.
