Struggling Premier League outfit Manchester United have set their sights on a Serie A-based striker ahead of the resumption of the transfer window in the New Year.
This is according to the publication from the Telegraph which revealed that Manchester United are preparing a 35 million pounds bid for AC Milan striker Krzysztof Piatek.
The Red Devils see Polish international Piatek as the man to fill the vacuum left by Romelu Lukaku in the summer.
Belgian all-time topscorer Lukaku left Manchester United to join Italian Serie A giants Inter Milan in a deal reported to be around 74 million pounds.
He has already scored three goals for the Nerazzuri in the Italian Serie A this term.

Piatek was previously at Italian top flight outfit Genoa where he spent just six months before joining AC Milan in January of this year.
He has not been able to hit the back of the net like what was obtainable last season.
Piatek has scored just one goal for AC Milan this season.
On their part, Manchester United have several issues on the attacking front.
In addition, they have one of the poorest attacks in the Premier League this term after nine goals scored in eight games.
