New AS Roma signing Henrikh Mkhitaryan has revealed the reason behind his unhappy state at Arsenal.

According to him, a lack of playing time left him in an unhappy state and that played a big part in his last-minute move to Italian capital club AS Roma.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan was speaking at a press conference on Wednesday ahead of the Euro 2020 qualifier between his country Armenia and Italy.

The former Borussia Dortmund midfielder left Arsenal to join AS Roma on loan for the rest of the season.

Arsenal will receive the loan fee of €3m plus add-ons that could be as much as €100,000.

His loan contract from North London giants Arsenal to AS Roma states that the deal will become a permanent one in the event that the player features for the Italian capital club for at least 25 games.

In addition, AS Roma will pay his £180,000 weekly wages throughout the loan deal.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan scored nine goals in 59 appearances for Arsenal during his 18-month stay at the club.

He joined Arsenal as part of the deal that took Alexis Sanchez to Manchester United in January 2018.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan had two years left on his current deal at the Emirates Stadium before the loan transfer to AS Roma at the start of this month.
