Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric has spoken about his controversial red card during their Spanish La Liga opener against Celta Vigo.

The immediate past European champions traveled to Balaidos to take on a tricky Celta Vigo in their opening game of the new Spanish La Liga season.

Real Madrid ran out 3-1 winners at Celta Vigo and the Spanish giants played almost half of the game with ten men after the aforementioned Modric was sent off.

Luka Modric was sent off in the second half of the Spanish La Liga game and the Croatian international was not happy with the decision to give him a red card.

He was sent off for a challenge on Celta Vigo midfielder Denis Suarez thanks to the review from VAR.

The long-term Manchester United target took to his social media account to disagree with the decision which happened in the 50th minute.

According to the reigning Ballon d’Or winner, he was sent off for an accidental action.

Real Madrid had led 1-0 at the time of his red card through a first half strike from French striker Karim Benzema.

Toni Kroos added a second goal for Real Madrid despite the numerical disadvantage before Lucas Vazquez put the game beyond the hosts.

Iker Losada pulled one back for the home team in added time as Real Madrid ran out 3-1 winners.
