Former Premier League player Joseph Yobo has singled out Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for praise following his performance for Arsenal during their opening league game against Newcastle United at the weekend.

Arsenal defeated Newcastle United 1-0 away from home in their opening Premier League game of the season on Sunday afternoon with Aubameyang getting the only goal of the match.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored in the 58th minute to give the Gunners victory off an assist from Ainsley Maitland-Niles.

Joseph Yobo played with distinction for Merseyside giants Everton during his football career and he spoke about Aubameyang on Super Sports.

According to him, Aubameyang showed why he is a world-class player with the finish for the only goal of the game.

He received a cross from Maitland-Niles before finishing past Martin Dubravka in the Newcastle United goal.

Joseph Yobo said Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang resumed from where he left off last season.

Aubameyang won the Golden Boot in his first full season as a Premier League player in the last campaign after netting 22 times.

The 30-year-old Gabonese attacker won the Golden Boot alongside the Liverpool duo of Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was the topscorer for the Gunners last season with 31 goals in all competitions.
