Liverpool owners, Fenway Group, have told manager Jurgen Klopp to jettison the idea of competing with the big guns for inferior competitions like the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup.
The Liverpool owners have told the manager to concentrate on winning the Premier League for the first time in their illustrious history.
Liverpool are widely regarded as the most successful team in English football but the Reds are yet to win the league since it was revised to the present format known as the Premier League.
Their last league title of any form came during the 1989/90 season.

Liverpool have not won the league title for 30 years and the owners are keen to end the three decade-long wait for a title.
The Reds came close to winning the Premier League title last season only for them to be beaten to the title by holders Manchester City who have won the last two titles and are the favourites to win the competition for the third time in a row.
Liverpool owners want their manager to prioritise winning the Premier League as well as retaining the Champions League title which they won during the last campaign.
They have now won six European titles after the Champions League win from last season.
