Arsenal manager Unai Emery has asked defender Shkodran Mustafi to leave the club before the end of this transfer window.

The Premier League transfer window ended on Thursday but the transfer market is still open for the other leagues and players from the Premier League can still secure moves away from their present clubs.

Unai Emery spoke about Shkodran Mustafi during his latest press conference on Friday as he steps up preparation for the opening Premier League game of the season.

The Spaniard will take his Arsenal side to play Newcastle United at the St. James Park in what’s the first game of the season.

On Mustafi, Unai Emery said that he spoke to the German international at the end of the season, at the start of preseason and that he also told the player two weeks ago that he can leave the club.

Shkodran Mustafi had been much maligned amongst the Arsenal fans with the majority keen for him to leave the club this summer.

The error-prone defender has been attracting interest from clubs like AS Monaco in the French Ligue 1 and AS Roma in the Italian Serie A.

Mustafi has spent three years at Arsenal since his move from Spanish club Valencia in the summer of 2016.
