North London giants Arsenal have confirmed that young striker Eddie Nketiah has joined English Championship club Leeds United on loan for the 2019/20 season.
The confirmation was made by the club via their official Twitter handle on Thursday afternoon.
Eddie Nketiah has teamed up with Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa for the season.
Leeds United won the race to sign the 20-year-old striker due to the influence of the club’s sporting director Victor Horta who has a good relationship with Arsenal manager Unai Emery.
Other clubs like Bristol City (English Championship) and Fortuna Dusseldorf (German Bundesliga club) were also interested in him before he opted for Leeds United.
Eddie Nketiah broke into the first team at Arsenal during the 2017/18 season.
He was part of the Arsenal squad that reached the Europa League final last season before they were beaten by London rivals, Chelsea.
The Gunners were beaten 4-1 by Chelsea who won the revised Europa League competition as a result.
Eddie Nketiah played a big part for Arsenal during preseason as the club stepped up preparation for the new season.
He came off the bench to score the winning goal for Arsenal in a 2-1 win over Bayern Munich before betting twice during the 3-0 victory over Fiorentina.
