Premier League club Watford have turned down a big bid from fellow top flight side Everton for one of their best players.

According to French publication RMC Sports, Watford have rejected a £32m bid from the Toffees for midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure.

French midfielder Doucoure is one of the best players at Watford and he has been linked with major European sides like Paris Saint Germain (PSG) and Arsenal in the past transfer windows.

The aforementioned report also said that Everton will increase their offer for Doucoure in the coming days after their opening bid was rejected by the Hornets.

Abdoulaye Doucoure is seen as the direct replacement for Idrissa Gueye who has left Everton for PSG in a £27m deal.

The Senegalese international sealed his move to France at the end of last month.

Idrissa Gueye spent two years as an Everton player before his move to Paris.

He joined the Toffees from former European champions Aston Villa shortly after they suffered relegation from the Premier League at the end of the 2016/17 season.

Idrissa Gueye was recently part of the Senegal squad that reached the final of this year’s African Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament in Egypt.

The tournament was won by the Desert Foxes of Algeria.
