Lille Announce Arrival Of Victor Osimhen As Replacement For Nicolas Pepe

French Ligue 1 club Lille have confirmed the arrival of Super Eagles attacker Victor Osimhen from Belgian club Sporting Charleroi.

His transfer was announced earlier on Thursday and he’s expected to replace Arsenal-bound Nicolas Pepe in the Lille attack ahead of the new season.

Victor Osimhen had earlier undergone his Lille medical on Wednesday after the French club agreed a €12m deal with Belgian club Sporting Charleroi for him including bonuses.

He has signed a five-year deal until the end of the 2023/24 season.

The Nigerian striker scored 20 goals in 40 appearances for Sporting Charleroi whom he joined on loan from German Bundesliga club VFL Wolfsburg last summer.

Victor Osimhen was part of the Super Eagles of Nigeria squad to the just concluded African Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament in Egypt.

He was part of the team that finished the tournament in third position.

Victor Osimhen made a solitary appearance in the Green-White-Green of the Super Eagles.

The Nigerian striker is expected to add firepower to the Lille frontline for the new season billed for next month.

He would be the direct replacement for Nicolas Pepe who’s on the verge of sealing a club-record move to Arsenal.

The Pepe to Arsenal transfer would be announced in the coming hours.
