Premier League giants Manchester United have been handed a big transfer blow in their quest to sign Portuguese midfielder Bruno Fernandes this summer.

Bruno Fernandes plays his club football for Portuguese Super League side Sporting Lisbon.

According to Sky Sports sources, Manchester United won’t sign Bruno Fernandes this summer.

Bruno Fernandes has been linked with Manchester United for the majority of this summer’s transfer window.

The Portuguese international star has been attracting the interest of several clubs this summer on the back of a sensational season for Sporting Lisbon.

Apart from Manchester United, Bruno Fernandes has also been linked with other Premier League sides like Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City.

Spanish La Liga giants Atletico Madrid were also linked with the 24-year-old midfielder.

Bruno Fernandes was in superb form for Sporting Lisbon in the last campaign and its not surprising that a lot of the big European clubs are on his trail.

He scored 32 goals and also added 18 assists in 53 games for Sporting Lisbon in all competitions last season.

The Portuguese player broke the record for the most goals scored by a midfielder in a season.

Frank Lampard was the previous recipient of that record during the 2009/10 season with 27 goals in all competitions.
