Three-time European champions Manchester United are confident that they can sign top transfer target Harry Maguire for £75m this summer.

Harry Maguire plays his club football for Premier League side Leicester City at the moment.

According to the Daily Mail, Manchester United are confident that they can sign the England international centre back for less than the valuation from Leicester City.

Earlier this month, Manchester United made a £70m bid for Harry Maguire only for the offer to be rejected by the Foxes who are holding out for £85m to £90m.

Manchester United officials are confident that they can sign him for £75m.

The Red Devils are in the market for a new centre back this summer after the poor defensive showings from the last campaign.

Manchester United conceded 54 goals in 38 Premier League games.

The Red Devils missed out on Champions League football next season mainly because of their poor defensive outings.

The top four teams in the Premier League qualified for Champions League but Manchester United ended the season in sixth position.

Manchester United were linked with a move for Harry Maguire last summer but they were priced out of a move for him and the same scenario is playing out this summer.

Kai Havertz

Manchester United hopes of getting Bayer Leverkusen youngster Kai Havertz has been boosted as Peter Bosz revealed that the player could decide to leave the German Bundesliga sooner than expected.

The Bayer Leverkusen manager told Germany media publication Bild that the 20-year-old attacking midfielder could be heading to a new club in the nearest future.

Bosz, who has been tutoring the player for four years, claimed that he would love to have the player around for many more seasons but he has no power to change the youngster’s decision.

“Of course I would like to keep him, just as I would have liked to keep Julian Brandt, for example…. But it is like this, at the end the player himself must feel when he is ready for the next step. Nobody can decide that for him.”

This will come as good news to United manager who truly needs a goalscoring midfielder at the middle of the park following Pogba’s lack of goalscoring abilities.

Havertz has scored 31 goals for Leverkusen since his first-team debut in 2015 and he will definitely be a good addition to the Old Trafford outfit.

Liverpool are also said to be keeping close eye on the Germany international hoping to launch a bid for his services as soon as he’s available.

Griezmann

Manchester United were without an experienced striker before the start of the campaign following Romelu Lukaku and Sanchez’s summer switch to Serie A side Inter Milan.

It was surprising that Solskjaer didn’t sign capable replacements for both players before the close of the transfer window but media outlet, The Athletic, has revealed the reason for his poor performance during the summer transaction period.

According to the media, United were targeting Antoine Griezmann as Lukaku’s replacement and they have met with the Frenchman’s representative for negotiations.

Unfortunately, the Red Devils were stunned when it was revealed that the Camp Nou outfits had reached a huge £105m deal with Atletico Madrid for the player’s services.

The Red Devils made a last-minute move to block the World Cup winner from joining Barcelona but it appeared too late to cause any major upset.

Martial, Rashford and academy graduate Greenwood have all been given the nod by Solskjaer to lead the attack this season but none has lived up to to expectations.

Martial has been battling with injuries for six weeks, but he’s set to return to action against Liverpool on Sunday, while Rashford could likely remain in Solskjaer’s starting XI against the Reds.

Though Manchester United have reportedly described the winter transfer market a tough period to get new players, the Red Devils are very much keen on signing one or two players, especially a striker.

Notwithstanding, the Premier League giants believe they are going all-out to complete the signing of one striker due to the unfavorable situation at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils have not been scoring goals since the start of this season and the board members have reportedly promised to get a new striker who will help solve Solskjaer’s problems at the final half of the pitch.

A deal for Mario Mandzukic’s services appeared to be done and dusted but waiting for an official announcement in January, that’s if reports making headline across England are something to rely on.

Meanwhile, the Red Devils are also set to make official bids for Borussia Dortmund’s winger Jadon Sancho and Leicester City’s attacking midfielder James Maddison.

It is, however, unknown if both clubs would risk losing the two influential players in the middle of the season.

Joao Felix

Manchester United were said to be in contention for Portuguese wonderkid Joao Felix in the summer but Solskjaer surprisingly pulled out of the race to sign him.

Solskjaer’s reasons for taking such a decision were unclear to many until The Athletic reported this morning that the manager took such step because of the youngster’s lack of physical presence.

The Athletic revealed that the Norwegian boss wasn’t convinced with Felix’s physical appearances and he doubted if he can cope with the league’s physical-demanding nature.

His decision to pull out of the race gave Spanish side Atletico Madrid the chance to lure the 19-year-old to the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium in in the summer.

It was reported that Diego Simeone’s side paid a huge £113m to Benfica before they finally sealed a deal for the Portuguese star who scored 15 goals and nine assists last season.

As much as United’s decision to end interest in the player has a concrete reason, they ought to have competed for the player due to his overall potentials and his goalscoring prowess.

Since his switch to Atletico Madrid, Joao Felix has scored three goals and one assist. He definitely has a great future ahead of him, and United won’t hesitate to reignite interest in him when the opportunity arises again.

Mario Mandzukic

Manchester United have reportedly reached a £10m deal with Juventus for Mandzukic’s services in January but the player is set to discuss his future with the Serie A side.

According to The Mirror, Juventus sporting director Fabio Paratici will meet with the Croatian striker in coming days to discuss United’s offer and his plans for the next transfer window.

The Sporting Director revealed that the 33-year-old was close to joining a Qatari club in the summer window but they failed to reach an agreement before the end of the transaction period.

“With Mandzukic, we chose a quiet time for him to leave but a move to Qatar [in the summer] did not materialise so he stayed with us. Now we will talk to him and see what happens in January.” he said.

Since the start of the season, the former Atletico and Bayern Munich striker hasn’t featured for Maurizio Sarri’s men as he is behind Ronaldo and Higuain in the pecking order.

Should he join United in January, Mandzukic will become the third oldest player under Solskjaer’s tutelage behind Lee Grant and Ashley Young.

He has scored 188 combined goals for all the clubs he has played for, and he could be the best short-term solution to United’s goalscoring problems.
