Premier League giants Manchester United can sign top midfield target Bruno Fernandes for just £35m despite the fact that the player has a release clause of £88m in his contract.

Bruno Fernandes plays his club football for Portuguese Super League giants Sporting Lisbon at the moment.

According to the Daily Mirror, Bruno Fernandes has a gentleman agreement with Sporting Lisbon to sanction his sale but the club is reluctant to do a deal for a small transfer fee.

His agent Miguel Pinho flew into the United Kingdom earlier this week for talks with Manchester United.

Bruno Fernandes is keen to leave Sporting Lisbon this summer on the back of a sensational season with his club.

The 24-year-old scored 32 goals and added 18 assists in 53 games in all competitions this summer.

He broke the midfield record set by Frank Lampard for the most goals scored in a season.

Newly appointed Chelsea manager Lampard scored 27 goals in all competitions for the Stamford Bridge outfit during the 2009/10 season.

In the league, Bruno Fernandes scored 23 goals in addition to 10 assists in 33 games as Sporting Lisbon finished the season in third place behind FC Porto and champions Benfica.

Sporting Lisbon also won the Portuguese Cup ahead of FC Porto.
