Manchester United coach Mike Phelan has been spearheading the push to sign Leicester City defender Harry Maguire this summer according to the publication from the Daily Express.
It was revealed that the Manchester United coach is keen for the club to complete a deal for Maguire before the end of the Premier League transfer window on the 8th of August.
The Premier League transfer window shuts one day before the 2019/20 season kicks off on August 9.
Mike Phelan is no stranger to Harry Maguire after the two worked together at English Championship club Hull City.

The Manchester United coach managed Harry Maguire at Hull City before the defender joined Leicester City in the summer of 2017.
The Foxes paid £17m for his transfer from Hull City.
Harry Maguire has grown in leaps and bounds since his move to Leicester City two years ago.
The England international centre back is a top transfer target for Manchester United on the defensive front this summer.
Earlier this week, the Red Devils made a £70m bid for Harry Maguire and it was rejected by Leicester City who are holding out for £20m more.
