Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba was conspicuously absent from training on Friday to further fuel the exit rumours hanging over his head.

The French World Cup winner is the subject of serious interest from clubs like Real Madrid and Juventus in addition to his recent admission that he needs a new challenge after three years as a Manchester United player for the second time.

Pogba was initially scheduled to resume preseason training on Friday but the Frenchman was absent after he was given permission to miss out on training by manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer according to the publication from the stables of BBC Sport.

Paul Pogba is, however, expected to be a part of the Manchester United squad for the preseason tour of Australia.

Manchester United will jet out to Australia on Sunday ahead of a four-game tour of Australia.

The Red Devils began preseason training on Monday as they look to banish the memories of the last campaign which ended badly in a sixth-placed finish on the Premier League table.

Manchester United missed out on Champions League football for the new season as a result.

Paul Pogba scored 16 goals for Manchester United in all competitions during the season including 13 league goals.
