Arsenal defender Nacho Monreal has reportedly agreed on a new deal with the club.

According to The Sun, Monreal has agreed on a one-year contract with the option of another year.

His current deal would have expired this summer.

Spanish international Monreal has been at Arsenal since he joined the Gunners in January 2013.

The 33-year-old has made 248 appearances for Arsenal in his five-year stay at the club.

Nacho Monreal has won three FA Cup titles in the colours of Arsenal since joining from Spanish club Malaga.

His new contract is worth £65k on a weekly basis.

Nacho Monreal was linked with a move to Spanish La Liga club Athletic Bilbao in the previous transfer windows but he decided to stay at Arsenal till date.

The Spaniard started his Arsenal career as a left-back and he has been able to transform into a central defender at the club.

Since Unai Emery became the Arsenal manager last summer, Nacho Monreal has played more as a left-sided central defender.

The Gunners are in the market for a new left-back and Celtic defender Kieran Tierney is their top transfer target for that position.

The Scottish national team star is a utility player as he can play well as a central defender and as a right-back.
