Champions League finalists Tottenham Hotspur are said to be edging closer to a club-record move for Lyon midfielder Tanguy Ndombele.

According to Sky Sports, Tottenham Hotspur will conclude the £65m transfer for French international Ndombele before the end of this week.

His transfer would eclipse the previous club record held by Davidson Sanchez who moved to North London from Dutch Eredivisie giants Ajax Amsterdam two years ago.

The Davidson Sanchez transfer was said to be worth £42m.

Spurs have not signed a new player in almost two years and Tanguy Ndombele is expected to be their first signing since January 2018.

The last signing made by the North London club was Brazilian national team player Lucas Moura who moved to the Premier League from French Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint Germain (PSG).

Tanguy Ndombele has been a key player for Lyon in the past two seasons.

His transfer to Lyon was made permanent by the French Ligue 1 club for just €7m.

Ndombele has been linked with major European sides like Manchester United, Juventus, Manchester City, PSG and Champions League holders Liverpool.

His signing would definitely be a statement of intent from Spurs who surprised a lot of people by reaching the Champions League final last season before they were beaten 2-0 by eventual champions, Liverpool.
