Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has reportedly set his sights on Real Madrid playmaker Isco Alarcon as the long-term replacement for David Silva.
This is according to the publication from trusted Spanish media portal Marca which claimed that the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager is eyeing a move for Isco Alcaron.
Guardiola sees Isco as the heir to David Silva’s place at Manchester City.
Isco and David Silva played together for the Spanish national team for many years.
David Silva is expected to leave Manchester City next summer upon the expiration of his contract with the Citizens and Isco is the top transfer candidate to replace him as confirmed by the aforementioned report.
Recently, David Silva confirmed that he will quit Manchester City after spending close to a decade at the Etihad Stadium.
The Manchester City legend talked about returning to play for boyhood club Las Palmas.
Compatriot Isco had earlier been linked with a move to the Premier League clubs like Chelsea and Liverpool during his Real Madrid struggles under former manager Santiago Solari.
His situation at Real Madrid has changed for the better since Zinedine Zidane became the manager for the second time in March and it remains to be seen whether the Frenchman will let Isco leave for the Premier League with Manchester City.
