Former Chelsea and Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is reportedly the favourite for the vacant managerial job at Newcastle United.
The Portuguese tactician is said to be the front-runner to replace former Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez at Newcastle United.
This is according to the report from ITV which claimed that Jose Mourinho is the top candidate for the Newcastle United job ahead of Claudio Ranieri.
Italian tactician Ranieri has managed three clubs in the Premier League including Chelsea, Leicester City and Fulham.
His greatest achievement was when he led Leicester City to an unlikely Premier League title during the 2015/16 season.
Ranieri was sacked as the Fulham manager earlier this year before taking over as an interim manager at boyhood club AS Roma until this summer.
Apart from Jose Mourinho and Claudio Ranieri, ex-Manchester United defender Laurent Blanc and former Manchester United manager David Moyes have also been linked with the job.
Laurent Blanc and David Moyes have both expressed their interest in the Magpies job.
Assistant Manchester City manager Mikel Arteta is also in the frame for the top job.
Rafael Benitez has made the decision to leave his post as the Newcastle United manager this summer after the club failed to back his ambition for new players.
