The aforementioned publication from the Daily Mail claimed that the Reds still have to see off the threat of the likes of German Bundesliga club Bayern Munich as well as the Dutch Eredivisie duo of Ajax Amsterdam and PSV Eindhoven.
Dutch champions Ajax Amsterdam are looking for a possible replacement for wantaway defender Matthijs De Ligt and they have identified young defender van der Berg as the man to fill the void from De Ligt if the Ajax skipper leaves as expected.
Recent reports claimed that De Ligt will leave Ajax Amsterdam for Juventus this summer but the likes of Liverpool, Manchester United, Paris Saint Germain (PSG) and Barcelona are still keen on signing him.
