Europa League finalists Arsenal are determined to sign highly rated Celtic defender Kieran Tierney during this summer’s transfer window.
According to the Daily Mail, Arsenal have made an opening bid of £15m for the Celtic left-back.
The Scottish champions rejected the first offer from the Gunners with Celtic holding out for £25m for one of their prized assets.
Arsenal manager Unai Emery has identified the left-back position as an area to strengthen this summer despite the fact that he has two senior left-backs in his squad at the moment.
Nacho Monreal and Sead Kolasinac are the left-backs in the Arsenal squad but the Gunners boss has doubts over their ability to play the position effectively.
Arsenal conceded 70 goals in all competitions including a very poor defensive return of 51 goals in just 38 league games and Unai Emery is desperate to address the defensive problem.
The poor defensive showing from Arsenal led to them missing out on the Champions League for next season.
The Gunners finished the season in fifth position and just outside the first four places on the Premier League table thus missing out on Champions League football for the new season.
The poor defensive showing from Arsenal also came to the fore in the Europa League final which they lost 4-1 to Chelsea to miss out finally on Champions League football next season.
