Premier League giants Manchester United have to pay a lot of money to sign Real Betis midfielder Giovanni Lo Celso this summer according to the latest reports coming out of the Spanish media.

The Red Devils are one of the clubs interested in signing the Argentine international player during this summer’s transfer window.

The 23-year-old is also attracting the interest of clubs like Real Madrid and Champions League finalists Tottenham Hotspur on the back of a superb season with Real Betis.

According to Spanish news outlet Estadio Deportivo, Real Betis officials traveled to England for talks over the player thereby installing Manchester United as the favorites to sign the aforementioned Lo Celso.

Tottenham Hotspur had earlier made a club-record of £53m bid for the player keen to work with compatriot Mauricio Pochettino only for Real Betis to reject the offer which would have beaten the £42m Spurs paid to sign Davidson Sanchez from Ajax Amsterdam.

Real Betis are holding out for at least £67m for the player they signed for £19.5m two months ago.

Giovanni Lo Celso has a release clause of £89m in his current contract with the Spanish La Liga club.

The player had a successful loan spell at Real Betis during the just concluded campaign which saw him score 16 goals and also provide six assists in all competitions.

Real Betis paid £2.5m to sign Giovanni Lo Celso on loan from French giants Paris Saint Germain (PSG).
