Spanish giants Real Madrid are in the middle of a big transfer splurge this summer and the next stage is the signing of a midfield controller with Christian Eriksen and Paul Pogba identified as their top targets.
Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Christian Eriksen and his Manchester United counterpart Paul Pogba have been linked with the Los Merengues for the majority of this year.
According to the publication from the Independent, Real Madrid have prioritised the signing of Christian Eriksen over Paul Pogba due to several factors.
Paul Pogba was previously their top target in their quest to sign a midfield controller with club manager Zinedine Zidane pushing for a move for the French World Cup winner despite the fact that other senior club officials are sceptical about the transfer.

In recent days, Christian Eriksen has usurped Paul Pogba as their top midfield target after the Danish international star openly admitted that he wants to leave Tottenham Hotspur this summer.
Eriksen has one year left on his Spurs contract and he represents a cheaper option in comparison to Pogba who will likely set them back to the tune of over £150m.
Pogba scored 16 goals in all competitions for the Red Devils last season and he has also been linked with a return to former club Juventus.
Real Madrid knows Spurs chairman Daniel Levy will squeeze the last cash from the potential transfer of Eriksen having had dealings with him in the past.
